Deliver Enhanced Educational Programs and Value-Added Benefits & Tools for Members

Expand the Board of Directors4

Build Stronger Relationships with NAR Affiliate Groups

Grow Membership & Create More Opportunities for Leadership

Recognize Members for Accomplishments & Create Award Levels

Our education needs to remain cutting-edge and relevant—with more frequent events, more certified speakers and on-demand content. Our website needs more member tools and faster, more easily accessible content with contributions from members at every level.

Another seat on the board will ensure decisions better reflect the size, diversity and needs of our membership. It will also help maintain transparency, accountability, and member engagement. There should also be a seat for an Emeritus member so we have input from a long-standing and experienced stakeholder.

As the largest non-profit affiliate of NAR, we need to create more outreach, cross-collaboration and synergy with YPN, Women’s Council of REALTORS, key multicultural partners including AREAA, NAHREP, NAREB, and The Alliance. We also need to build stronger partnerships with REBI, The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing (CLHMS), Star Power and others.

There should be a CRS President and leadership team in every state. We should also have 5 open RVP positions every year to allow new leaders the opportunity to serve. There should be an election process for state level Presidents so local members can have a voice in selecting who represents them.

So many CRS designees have given their time, talent and energy to making our organization better. We need to continuously recognize individuals for their contributions and create levels of performance that others can aspire to.

I’m John Young—proud CRS, volunteer RRC member and REALTOR—and I’m running to be your new RRC First Vice President.

I was born in New Jersey and moved to Florida when I was 2. I spent my early years growing up in Florida and graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a degree in Journalism. My first job out of college was working for the New York Times Company. I learned a lot working in the corporate world—most importantly, how to leverage my strengths to contribute to a company’s success. I met my future wife Sharon and we moved to Washington DC.

In 2004, we got married and in 2009 we had a daughter, Chloe. Early in life, Chloe was diagnosed with autism and even though she is non-verbal, Chloe speaks to us in profound ways that we never imagined as parents.

Every time I came to a career crossroads, my mother, who had been a full-time REALTOR since 1980, encouraged me to get my real estate license. In 2004, I finally learned an important life lesson…listen to your mother. I got my real estate license and in 2010, became a full-time REALTOR.

In 2017, I attended my first local RRC event and met many like-minded professionals and exceptional REALTORS that are part of this amazing organization. REALTORS that know about service and what being in the Top 2% means in our industry.

Not long after, I had another experience that I could not have predicted would change the course of my life and career. A disabled couple reached out to me in search of a home after facing rejection from other agents and asked, “Are people like us a waste of time?” The experience of helping them find a home while simultaneously raising a child with a disability made me reflect on what I could do to make a larger impact in the lives of others. It made me think of the character traits of “Compassion”, “Responsibility” and “Service” and what that really means.

In 2019, I attended my first Sell-a-bration conference, and volunteered to speak at the opening session to tell my story. It launched a career in speaking on “Serving Clients with Special Needs” and the importance of being better for others. Since earning my CRS designation I’ve given much of my volunteer time to the Council by serving as the Maryland/DC state President, as an RVP for Region 5, as the Chair of the Leadership Development Training Committee, as a Presidential Advisory Group Member and as an elected member of the Board of Directors. Over the last 8 years, CRSs have become my most trusted colleagues and friends.  I would not be the person I am today without the connections I’ve made at the RRC and the impact you’ve have had on my life.

In March of this year, I’m asking you to vote for me for First Vice President. It’s time for me to give back to the Council in the most meaningful way—as part of the leadership team. I want to take the ideas of Compassion, Responsibility and Service and my unique skill set and make the RRC better for all members. I’m excited to follow the path of those that came before me and have volunteered their time to make our industry better and I’m ready to lead with ideas that will have a tangible and lasting impact on this organization that we all love dearly.

Thank you for all you do as RRC members and CRS designees and most importantly—thank you for your vote.
